DimDim is a web hosting for live meetings, webinars, and web conferences. You will be able to see your interlocutors, provided you have a web cam; and also you will be able to share presentations, show your desktop to other participants, and many more. All you will need to get it to work is your web browser and OpenOffice 2.3, the rest will be acquired with the program. It will install all the necessary libraries and a TomCat web server for the hosting and allowing the web browser interaction.
The free version allows you to create conferences with 5 participants (not with 20 as it is said on the program's website); the paid versions (Pro and Enterprise) allow creating conferences with much more participants. Microphone, speakers and webcam are allowed and are immediately recognized; these peripherals are available to configure and test preliminarily.
Any event (a conference or a meeting) can be scheduled during its creation. You can invite participants via e-mail, providing them with the schedule of the webcast. It is rather easy to set web meetings, whereas setting up emails can cause some difficulties because some ports are needed to be open if you’re behind a firewall.
